A Taste for Life, fundraiser, April 27th 2011

A Taste For Life is an easy, highly visible fundraiser for HIV and AIDS work that takes place every spring all across Ontario! The concept is simple and the event is unique to HIV/AIDS work. Because of strong community support, this annual event has become highly recognized and endorsed by the London community with more than 10,000 people coming out in the last 7 years.

The Morrissey House is one of the 31 restaurants taking part in this year’s event. It is pretty simple…you make a reservation here at The Morrissey House (or really, any one of the restaurants listed), we serve up a great meal, you leave full and content, and we donate 25% of the proceeds of your meal to the cause.

Just call us at 519 204 9220, or email at mark@themorrisseyhouse.com, and we’ll take care of the rest. You can also check out www.atasteforlife.org for more information, or http://on.fb.me/dSf10G to see the local restaurants that are participating…the more the merrier on this great night for London.

ST PATTY’S 2011

The playlist is finished! 250ish songs, 16 hours of music!! We have even included some local talent- Uisce Beatha and the Caution Donkeys…good Celtic music all day long.

Great Irish beer on tap- Guinness, Kilkenny (and Magner’s Cider too), plus Trafalgar’s Irish Ale, and yes green beer too. In bottles, we have Harp…, Smithwick’s and Trafalgar’s Paddy’s Irish Red. You cannot drink us dry!! Jameson, Bushmills, Black Bush and Tyrconnell for those that love whiskey.

Food specials for the 17th- all homemade…two potato soup, corned beef on rye, cabbage rolls, lamb stew, and Guinness/garlic mussels…so good, we have to add the caveat- while supplies last.

We even shovelled most of the patio today! And as an extra special treat, we have a lot of tees to give away.

Stop by for a pint on your travels!!

New Chef

Unfortunately, we have to say good bye to Ricardo! He has accepted a position with YOU downtown and we are sad to see him go. Ricardo built a brilliant menu and staff in the last 19 months and he will be missed. However, we do have an outstanding kitchen staff which allows us to search for the next leader without the pressures of time. I know you won’t notice a thing as the staff is prepared for this moment!

I thought that we would take advantage of your resources and see if you can help us find our next Chef. While we do have internal candidates, we want to make sure that we do our utmost to maintain our menu quality and creativeness. So if you will, please keep us in mind, pass along the message to anyone that you think might fulfill the criteria, and help us help ourselves!

The Morrissey House in the heart of downtown London is seeking a new Head Chef. The Morrissey has been built on the back of an excellent menu and we have a great reputation (and still building). The current menu is a twist on old favourites- breakfast, lunch and dinner. While we have nachos and wings on our menu, we also have diners coming in for the braised short ribs, lamb shanks, and perch. The ideal candidate would be inspired to create a legacy in London. We are a restaurant that makes you feel the homemade nature of the meal and we would like to continue to maintain the freshness, expand on our local endeavours and be creative. This is a full time position and will require you to be on the line, maintain labour/food costs, be inventive, creative, passionate and inspired. You are also a calm individual who craves detail and quality.

Resumés will be accepted via email at mark@themorrisseyhouse.com, or in person at 359 Dundas St, London. Deadline for submissions is February 28th
