2014 is going to see some changes to The Morrissey House. In addition to those things you love- like our Monday night pub quiz, half price wing Tuesdays, the ever changing beer line-up, the best single malt collection in London and of course the staff and people of The Mo- we will be adding nights and treats!
Wednesday will be, as some call it, Wine Down Wednesday, or as we are calling it, Winesday! All of our in house wines by the glass will be $1.50 off on Winesday and $6 per bottle. You will also have more choice as we will be running a monthly wine feature to go along with our usual 8 reds by the glass, and another 6 by the bottle, plus 5 whites by the glass and one more by the bottle only! Bigger news for those that really love their wine though, is that we will finally be using our BYOW endorsement. BYOW- Bring Your Own Wine. We will charge you a corkage fee for the wine (750ml bottles only) depending on the food you order! Wine must be commercially made (read: LCBO), no homemade wine please, and bottles must be 750ml. Staff will be happy to serve the wine and keep it cold (as the case may be). Sip, savour and unwine!
On Sunday nights, we begin the Sunday Roast Experience! Starting small to see how much you like what we are offering, it will be a full on prime rib dinner, with seasonal veg, roasted potatoes, gravy and house made Yorkshire pudding (which, between Andrew and Tenille and their experience at the Hunt and London Clubs respectively, should be a pretty great Yorkie!), for only $18. Our first roast night will be January 12, 5pm until we are sold out!
Also on tap for the winter; scotch tasting. I am not sure how we could have 45 single malts from Scotland and another 7 from around the world, plus all those great irish and Canadian whiskies, and not have had a tasting as yet. My Macallan sales representative has assured me he wants to bring in the big guys from Toronto and show us how this is done, so keep on watching this space and we will let you know when they come through!
February sees the Six Nations Rugby begin again, and of course the Olympics. I would also suggest making reservations for Valentine`s Day as it will be a busy Friday. Special dessert offerings that evening and a special dinner for two. Finally, I am putting a great jazz list together as we will start a monthly Sunday jazz brunch.
